Data recovery cases can be divided into three categories:
- Logical data recovery – recovery of files that were lost due to files system crash, malware or user actions (accidental files deletion or re-formatting) but the drive itself is technically intact. Recovery cost for such cases starts from as low as $200.
- HDD with firmware failures – HDD spins up without any weird sound and mounts to an operating system but is password locked, freezes or gives error messages. Recovery cost for such cases starts from $350.
- Hardware data recovery – is being used when the storage device has a physical or electrical damage, spins up with clicking or knocking sounds or won’t spin at all. This category includes HDDs that were dropped, damaged by an electrical surge, liquid damaged and, unfortunately, in many cases they just fail by themselves due to their technological features. The recovery rate for such cases starts from $790.
HARD DRIVE EVALUATION
Initial diagnostics takes about 30 minutes and we offer it for free.
By the end of the initial diagnostics, we determine the root cause of the HDDs’ malfunction and the best options to restore your data. Once it’s done we contact you to confirm the estimated recovery cost and get your approval to proceed with the recovery.
In some complex cases we may need to perform a more in-depth HDD examination if, for example, we suspect that there is a physical media damage and to get the full picture such drive requires complete disk stack disassembly in the cleanroom. In such cases, the examination takes about 2-3 hours depending on drives’ model so we require approval and such examination is subject to an attempt fee of $100.
The HDDs that have been inspected by other companies and claimed unrecoverable are considered the most difficult and time-consuming so they always need full examination in the cleanroom first thing. Such drives are subject to an attempt fee of $100 as well as 50% surcharge in case of successful data recovery.
